    Globetrotter Grant

The Board of the Globetrotter Grant for MSMC has set aside $1,500 again this year to help fund international travel for a Mount St. Mary's student.

There are no restrictions on the reasons for travel or on how the money is used, but the grant is intended for an adventurous student whose plans are not limited simply to study abroad. (In their proposals, students participating in a study-abroad program should describe the travel they plan to do outside of the program.)

Previous grant recipients have traveled in England, Germany, France, Egypt, Austria, Honduras, Australia, Portugal and Spain. Check out the “Grant Winners” page at www.globetrottergrant.org/grant-winners/ for examples of successful MSMC student proposals and to read about Mount student adventures.

MSMC TRAVEL AWARD

Sr. Aline Marie Gerber & Sr. Eloise Therese Mescall Travel Award

Study away provides students with a broader perspective of the world and enhances their college education.  It exposes them to other places, cultures and views, which they may not come in contact with at home.  These scholarships were created to provide students studying away with extra funds to enhance their experience.  For students studying in Europe, this might mean traveling to other countries; for students at CSJ sister schools it might mean attending cultural events or visiting historic sites in the U.S.; for students in Washington D.C., it might be used for transportation to their internships and class field trips.  It is up to the students to determine how they want to use the funds, with the restrictions that the money cannot be used for books, tuition, or room and board.

CAPA is offering TEN $5,000 need-based scholarships for the academic year, 2011-2012, for affiliate students only.  Affiliate students are also automatically eligible for the $600 CAPA affiliate discount.  For students with less need, or high academic achievement, there are regular CAPA need and merit scholarships ranging from $500-2,500, in addition to the $600 affiliate discount.  For more information, click the logo!
