Welcome to the Mount! We hope you find what you need on these pages. We've posted most of what you need here to ensure your transition to the Mount. We will add more information as it becomes available and at the appropriate time.

Important Information For New Mount Students

WEBADVISOR

WebAdvisor is The Mount's online tool that you will be using throughout your time here. You will use it to confirm enrollment, check financial aid, search for classes, register for classes and more.

You should have already received a letter with your username and password. You will need these to access this tool. Click here to get your log-in info!

MSMC EMAIL

MSMC uses email as the official form of communication with our students. Important information is sent to your MSMC email account and it's your responsibility to check it often. You should have received a letter with your email address and password information. If you did not receive it, please contact the MSMC HelpDesk and provide your MSMC Student ID, as it is secured. Just call (213) 477-2970 or (866) 224-6968. A letter will be sent from the Admission Office that includes your ID, username and password. If you do not receive it, please call 213-477-2561.

ANGEL

All students are required to utilize ANGEL to connect with faculty and fellow students. Your grades, assignments, announcements, etc., are posted on ANGEL to better acclimate you to MSMC.

To access ANGEL, use the "Quick Links" drop down menu on the top right corner of the Mount St. Mary's Website and choose "eLearning." ANGEL will prompt you for a username and password. Your password is your email address. If you run into difficulty, contact the help desk at 213-477-2970.

TRANSCRIPTS

Students must submit all final transcripts within one semester of attending Mount St. Marys in order to receive credit from pending courses. Transcripts must be sent institution to institution to be considered official by July 15th if you plan on attending the Mount; hand-delivered transcripts are considered unofficial. If you previously submitted unofficial transcripts, please resubmit you official Final transcript that includes a graduation date. Please request that all the institutions you attended (high school and college) mail official transcripts to:

DECISION FORMS

First Year Decision Form: A tuition deposit of $100.00 is required with the Decision Form in order to confirm enrollment to the College. The tuition deposit is due by May 1st to secure a spot in the Fall 2010 class; deposits received after May 1st may be subject to waitlists.

GETTING STARTED!

Your Getting Started packet contains important information regarding Orientation, Advisement, Registration, Technology, Health Information, and Financial Clearance. This packet was mailed to your address; however, we have attached it below for your reference. Please contact the Admission Office if you did not receive it.

TESTING, ADVISING & REGISTRATION

Information regarding placement exams, appointments with academic advisors and registration are in your Getting Started packet. Information regarding Orientation will be mailed to you. If you have questions, please contact the Learning Resource Center at 213-477-2690 or click here to learn more about Placement Testing at Doheny.

  • Placement Testing: July 6th, 10th, and 14th at 8:30am in the Doheny LRC.

SUMMER SKILLS

Doheny student interested in sharpening their academic skills are encouraged to attend Summer Skills. This is a 3 week bridge program that begins July 26 thru August 13. The program is offered at a moderate cost and has helped students advance their studies at the Mount. To register for Summer Skills, click here.

ORIENTATION

Mark your calendar to attend Orientation. This is a fun two day – one night adventure for YOU to get better acclimated to the Mount. You and your parents are invited to attend Orientation during the summer months. This is YOUR time to get questions answered and take care of important school related tasks before the Fall semester. The dates for Orientation are below:

Residence Hall Living: Housing Description

Doheny Housing Application Form

A deposit of $100.00 is required to submit a housing application. A housing deposit will only be accepted if a tuition deposit has been submitted to the College. Students interested in living on campus must submit their deposit in order to hold a space in the residence halls; students depositing after the May 1st deadline are subject to being placed on a waitlist if the residence halls exceed their capacity. 

Please Note: Housing Deposit refund date has been moved up to July 1st.

FINANCIAL AID

Financial Aid Information

FINANCIAL CLEARANCE DEADLINE

The financial clearance deadline for Doheny students is August 6, 2010. Please see your “Getting Started” packet for more information.

PAYING YOUR BILL The following information can be found in your “Getting Started” packet or on the Business Office website, http://www.msmc.la.edu/pages/847.asp

Students must clear their accounts no later than the Financial Clearance Deadline, August 6th, or a late charge will be accrued. Settlement of all semester charges through one or more of the following methods:

  1. Payment in full of net amount due
  2. Enrollment in a payment plan using CASHNet MyPaymentPlan
     

MyPaymentPlan

MSMC offers a Payment Plan with the following features:

  • 6-Month Plan by semester or a 12-Month Plan for the year. (For Fall – From July to December, For Spring – From January to June)
  • The Enrollment Fee of $20.00 must be paid in order to set up a 6-Month Plan.
  • The Plan Amount automatically updates for new charges or credits.
  • The monthly payments are due every 15th of the month.
  • A Fee of $30.00/month will be charged for late payment

*Students admitted after May 1st will be excluded and will comply with a different clearance date. 

HEALTH CLEARANCE  

Health Insurance is required for all students enrolled in nine (9) or more units. The insurance premium rates are $511 for the Fall semester (August 20, 2010 – January 2, 2011) and $883 for the Spring/Summer semester (January 2, 2011 – August 20, 2011). The premium rates will be automatically charged to your account. If you have personal insurance coverage, you will not be required to participate in MSMC’s sponsored Health & Accident Insurance Plan. In order to remove the charge from your account, you must complete a Health Insurance Waiver Form online by the financial clearance deadline. If these documents are received after the financial clearance deadline, you will be automatically enrolled in the Insurance Plan and the charge will be due and payable each semester.

Resident students are not permitted to begin classes without obtaining clearance from Health Services.
