Nursing Program Definition

To determine whether or not you should apply to Mount St. Mary's College as a Pre- Nursing Student or Direct Program Student, check out the list below as it should help you as you make your choice.

Apply as a Direct Program Nursing Student, if you have taken the courses below and your science GPA is at least a 2.5 and your overall GPA is at least a 2.5.

  • Anatomy**
  • Physiology**
  • Microbiology**
  • Psychology
  • Sociology
  • English 1A
  • English 1B or English 1C
  • Public Speaking
  • Developmental Psychology
  • Philosophy - Critical Thinking
  • General Study Requirement (Art, Music, Literature, or History)

** Indicates courses that must have been completed within five years prior to admission.

Apply as a Pre-Nursing Student if you have not completed all of the above courses and would like to take these courses here at the Mount if accepted in the program.

Please remember, that a Direct Program Nursing Student will have all of the courses completed and will be prepared to start in nursing theory courses if accepted in the program.
