Dr. Darlene Levy’s doctoral research focused on the prevention of falls in the gero-psychiatric clients using a cognitive-behavioral model. She currently has three ANCC certifications, which include Adult Mental Health; Child-Adolescence Mental Health and Advanced Nursing Administration. She holds a Public Health Nurse Certificate and has practiced in the home health setting with psychiatric clients.
Areas of clinical practice include; outpatient private practice/psychotherapist; clinical nurse manager/director/house supervisor for inpatient settings, and consultation-liaison for Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.
Dr. Levy has taught a variety of nursing students and medical students, residents and fellows throughout her career. She has taught nursing at the following levels: certified nurse aide, home health aide, LVN to RN programs, ADN, BSN and Masters level students. The courses which she has taught include: mental health nursing, advanced therapeutic communication, Roy model of nursing, current issues and trends in nursing, professional roles and practice in nursing, nursing leadership and advanced nursing leadership, and the role of the nurse educator in patient teaching.
