Susan D'Antuono has worked at Huntington Hospital for 29 years, her specialty and passion is Medical Surgical having obtained experience in respiratory disease for 10 years as a staff nurse and 6 years as Assistant Head Nurse on the General Medical Unit and Respiratory Unit. In addition, Professor D'Antuono practiced as a clinical case manager for respiratory patients for 5 years. D'Antuono currently practices as an Adult Medical Surgical Clinical Nurse Specialist and has precepted graduate CNS students for over 10 years.
Her practice incorporates the patient, nurse, and system spheres of influence in managing house-wide projects at Huntington Hospital related to medication reconciliation, fall prevention, and many others. D'Antuono participates in regulatory compliance, policy and procedure development/review, and staff education. In addition to being a member of the Nursing Practice Council, Informatics Council, and EBP/Nursing Research Council she chairs the Nursing Peer Review Council, advises the Patient Education Council, and has been a voting member of the International Review Board for over 5 years. Professor D'Antuono has completed two studies: temperature management and injury prevention using fall mats. She wrote 16 standards providing evidence for Magnet designation which Huntington Hospital was awarded in March, 2011.
D'Antuono's personal activities include being a member of the Altadena Guild of Huntington Hospital for 20 years and currently Guild President. She's a sports enthusiast and enjoys traveling, gardening, and shopping!
