Ann Schloss is a Medical Surgical Clinical Nurse Specialist for Veterans Administration Hospital in Los Angeles. She contributes to the improvement in quality of care delivered to veterans through her focus on teaching evidence based practice to staff nurses. Professor Schloss has assumed progressive roles in VAGLAHS starting in the intensive care unit, later as a certified case manager in medical surgical, cardiology, and cardio-thoracic services. She is involved with data collection and presentation of patient fall initiatives in the Medical-Surgical area. Her passion is mentoring and teaching nursing staff and nursing students to become confident in their nursing role and skills. Professor Schloss is a certified VHA mentor at a fellow level. In addition, she is a certified ELNEC (End of Life Nursing Education Consortium) instructor and a BLS (Basic Life Support) instructor. She teaches ANCC certification review classes and is a Clinical Liaison/ Instructor for undergraduate and graduate nursing students (MECN program) at UCLA School of Nursing.
