Graduate Education Teacher Preparation and Masters Programs

Application Procedures

Application procedures must be completed by the appropriate application deadline date:

  • Fall - June 30
  • Spring - October 30
  • Summer - March 30

Graduate Education Programs:
Admissions Requirement Checklist

Preliminary Credential Programs/Masters

(Includes Multiple Subjects, Single Subject, and Education Specialist Credentials)

  • Interview with the program director by calling 213-477-2620
  • Application (completed online), including statement of interest/application essay
  • Application fee or waiver ($50)
  • Official transcripts from all colleges attended (sent directly from the college/institution to Graduate Admissions MSMC)
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Copy of TB test results (within last 2 years)
  • CBEST Scores: Original Passing score report (student must submit)
  • CSET Scores* (one subtest score report, does NOT need to be a passing score, copy ok)
  • Confirmation email of application for Certificate of Clearance with confirmation number listed
  • Signed Candidate Dispositions Statement (receive at interview)

 

Instructional Leadership or Individually Designed Masters (IDP)

  • Interview with the program director by calling 213-477-2620
  • Application (completed online), including statement of interest/application essay
  • Application fee or waiver
  • Official transcripts from all colleges attended (sent directly from the college/institution to Graduate Admissions MSMC)
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • CSET score report* (one subtest score report, does NOT need to be a passing score, copy ok)
  • Passing CBEST score report (copy ok)
  • Verification of Experience and Employment form - two years teaching experience (see form; for Instructional Leadership Masters only)
  • Signed Candidate Dispositions Statement (receive at interview)

Clear Credential Program in conjunction with Masters Degree also requires:

  • Copy of Current Teaching Credential (with date of issuance)
  • Principal Form (sign by Principal, all lines checked off) - Counts as one letter of recommendation
  • Verification of Unavailability form

 

Certificate in Instructional Leadership Program application requires all items listed directly above for the Instructional Leadership Masters Program except for the following:

  • CSET Scores* not needed
  • Only one letter of recommendation needed 

 

Clear Credential Program ONLY

  • Interview with the program director by calling 213-477-2620
  • Application (completed online), including statement of interest/application essay
  • Application fee or waiver
  • Official transcripts from institution granting Bachelor's Degree (sent directly from the college/institution to Graduate Admissions MSMC)
  • Copy of Current Teaching Credential (with date of issuance)
  • Principal Form (signed by Principal, all lines checked off) is accepted as a letter of recommendation (receive at interview)
  • Verification of Unavailability form (receive at interview)
  • Signed Candidate Dispositions Statement (receive at interview)
  • Academic Petition to waive pre-selected requirements

Education Specialist Level II ONLY:

  • Interview with the program director by calling 213-477-2620
  • Application (completed online), including statement of interest/application essay
  • Application fee or waiver
  • Official transcripts from institution granting Bachelor's Degree (sent directly from the college/institution to Graduate Admissions MSMC)
  • Copy of Current Teaching Credential (with date of issuance)
  • Signed Candidate Dispositions Statement (receive at interview)
  • Two letters of recommendation

*Note: You must personally send a copy of your score report to MSMC; the one you request to be sent through the testing agency will not suffice.
