Do I need to take the GRE?

This program does not require you to take the GRE.

Do I have to have the CSET and CBEST completed before I can be accepted into the program?

You will need to pass the CBEST and submit a score report for one CSET subtest to complete your application. But, you do not need to pass the CSET subtest prior to being admitted.

How do I know which subject to take on the CSET?

The subject of your exam should be in-line with the subject you want to teach and the single-subject credential you wish to pursue. For more details about the CSET exam go to www.cset.nesinc.com.

What education requirements do I need to have to apply to the preliminary credential program?

You need to have a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.

When is the application deadline?

We operate on a “rolling admissions” basis. This means we review applications as they are received. Therefore, though we have application deadline dates, we encourage applicants to apply well in advance of the posted deadlines. 

Fall – July 15
Spring –November 15
Summer – April 15

How long does the program take to complete?

The program is designed for adults working full-time. A full course load is two classes and it generally takes between 2 and 3 years to finish both the credential and masters degree, depending upon candidate needs.

How much does the program cost?

Please call Graduate Admission to discuss costs and available financial aid. Current information about program costs, financial aid, scholarships, etc., can also be obtained by attending a personalized Information session with an advisor. We offer weekly appointments.

What is the required GPA?

2.5 is considered the minimum GPA to apply to this program.

On what days will I have to be in class?

It depends upon the format you choose. Evening students generally have class 2 evenings per week. However, weekend students attend class six, non-consecutive weekends per semester.

What is the maximum amount of time I can take to complete a program?

Seven years.
