Student Spotlights

My years at Mt. St. Mary’s College (MSMC) were life-changing.  As the first in my family to attend college, I had no idea what to expect from a college experience and, frankly, thought I would be on my own with little support.  I was absolutely wrong.  The genuine concern for my academic and personal development that all members of the MSMC community displayed was unparalleled.  In particular, the one-on-one attention that my academic advisor and all of my professors provided allowed me to develop deep, meaningful relationships with them.  In fact, my MSMC professors were instrumental to me as I applied to graduate school.  I am now an advanced doctoral candidate at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and I maintain close communication with several MSMC professors, always seeking their advice and, perhaps most importantly, always confident that they sincerely care about my progress.  I cannot emphasize just what a special, transformative place MSMC really is. — Jeannette Mancilla-Martinez
