GLS Joint Symposium: History

The Graduate Liberal Studies Joint Symposium was started in 2007 by Stanford University and Dominican University as a way to bring together graduate students in Liberal Studies, along with alumni and staff for a weekend of social and intellectual interaction. Since 2008, the symposium has grown to include other west coast institutions as well as Maastricht University in the Netherlands.

The Conference

The Conference will begin Friday afternoon, June 20, 2014. After the registration there will be a welcome reception, 5 to 6 pm. On Saturday, panel presentations are scheduled all day, and lunch is included. Evening reception to foster conversation among symposium participants. Panel presentations will continue Sunday morning and conclude with a group meeting.

The schedules of the GLS and for the student’s Presentations will be posted at a later date.

Accommodations

Dorm rooms are available on the Chalon Campus for $25 per person, per day for Doubles, and $40 per person, per day for Singles.

As an alternative, there is the Brentwood Motel on Sunset at Bundy at rates of $149 to 169 per day per room. Please make reservations directly at 310.476.9981, or 800.840.3808. (Just down the 2- mile street from the Mount)

At the intersection of Sunset and the 405 Freeway is the Hotel Angeleno at a per day rate of $189, or less if we have a group. Phone 310.476.6411.
