The Los Angeles Business Journal announced that Mount St. Mary's College Graduate Nursing Program received the Healthcare Leadership Award in the category of Institutional or Education Program. Healthcare professionals from leading hospitals, clinics, university healthcare systems, and community outreach programs throughout the city of LA were honored at the awards ceremony held at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in April. The Healthcare Leadership Award recognizes the achievements of the nursing faculty, as well as the contributions of the Mount's ADN to MSN and MSN Programs to graduate nursing education. The award recognizes the Graduate Nursing Program at Mount St. Mary's College for its focus on the delivery of culturally competent and sensitive health care to the increasing minority population in the United States. Nationally recognized as leaders in nursing education, a team of Mount St. Mary's nursing faculty experts developed two graduate programs, a Master of Nursing Program and a Bridge Program to prepare RNs to complete their undergraduate coursework and earn a graduate nursing degree. Strategic partnerships between Mount St. Mary's College and Los Angeles area community colleges and hospitals have been formed to open the doors of graduate higher learning to those who might not otherwise think of themselves as having the potential to earn a graduate degree and function as leaders in health care.
