Shamika Ossey, MSMC BSN alum – class of 2005 – is the Community Liaison Public Health Nurse for the West (SPA 5) and South (SPA 6) Service Planning Area for Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. Her proposal to incorporate distance markers along the walking trail of a South LA park was funded for $25,000. The targeted area within SPA 6 has the highest obesity rates in Los Angeles. Ossey teaches NUR 105 Community & Public Health Nursing Theory to the students in the Mount’s ADN to MSN program. Congratulations!
