MEDIA ADVISORY: Mount St. Mary's releases 2013 Report on Status of Women and Girls

Contact: Phillip Jordan

March 19, 2013 — Mount St. Mary’s College will host more than 850 guests this Thursday, March 21, as the College publicly releases its 2013 Report on the Status of Women and Girls in California™. This Report is the only one of its kind in the state, a compilation of existing research on a dozen key issues that affect the advancement and well-being of women and girls.

The Report illuminates the conditions California’s 18.9 million females face in areas including: education, employment, poverty, media, technology, leadership, physical health, mental health, violence, incarceration, demographics and military service.

At Thursday's event, key Report findings will be highlighted. Expert panelists will discuss why stubborn gender gaps still exist in so many areas — and how this Report can be used as a catalyst for change. Academy Award®-winning actor Geena Davis will be our featured speaker. Davis is chair of the California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls.

Panelists, Report authors and Mount St. Mary's President Ann McElaney-Johnson will be available for interviews on Thursday. Contact us to arrange an interview.

When: Thursday, March 21 / 10 a.m. – noon

Where: Mount St. Mary’s Doheny Campus / 10 Chester Place / Los Angeles, CA 90007
