Frequently Asked Questions
The message light constantly blinks even when there are no messages.
- The voicemail system needs to be set up again. Follow the instructions on Setting Up Your Voice Mail. If you are sharing the telephone, click on Voicemail Tree for additional instructions.
- The telephone is set to forward somewhere or set to some other feature. Pick up the handset and make sure you have a dial tone, then press
  to clear the feature.

The voicemail cannot be accessed.
- Make sure you are using the correct telephone number to Access Your Voicemail.
- If you are on a Telephone Tree enter the phantom number (not your extension number) assigned to you (this will be your mailbox number), then press the
key. Enter your passcode when prompted.
There is no dial tone.
- Unplug then plug the telephone cord from its wall jack, and from the telephone equipment, then check for the dial tone.
- Take your telephone to your neighbor's room and plug it in their wall jack, using either yours or your neighbor's telephone cord. (You most likely have a bad telephone cord. Contact us for an exchange of telephone cords.)

I'm unable to connect to an outside operator.
- The telephone system will not allow anyone to connect to an outside operator.
- If you dial 0 or 8 + 0, you will get the campus switchboard.
I'm unable to make an off-campus call.
Make these calls using your long distance authorization code or your own calling card.

If you have already received the Paetec Calling Guide, it contains the old Dialing Instructions (Dial 9), instead of the new way (Dial 8). This notice replaces the Dialing Instructions portion Only of the Calling Guide you receive in the mail. Everything else in the Calling Guide is valid. See attached and print for your reference
This change affects both Chalon and Doheny callers. University of Judaism residents are not affected.

My long distance authorization code does not work (Paetec).
- Incorrect dialing. See I'm unable to make an off-campus telephone call.
- Balance due has exceeded the established credit limit.
- Balance due has not been paid by the due date.
- If you continue to experience difficulty, please callPaetec at1-800-962-4772.
How do I place a conference call using non-Mitel telephones.
- Place the first call.
- With the caller(s) on the line, press FLASH (you will hear a stuttered dial tone).
- Dial the next call (wait until someone answers the line. You will not be able to disconnect the caller dialed after you have added them in conference.They must hang up at their end.)
- Press FLASH,
 , to connect all parties.
- Follow steps 2 - 4, for additional callers.
