Voice Mail

Your voice messages reside in your personal "mailbox," which is protected by a passcode. Your telephone coordinator will assign you a temporary passcode to use the first time you access your mailbox. How you access the Voicemail System will depend on whether you are calling from on- or off-campus.


How to Set-up Your Voicemail in a Single-User Office/Room

A. To Set Up Your Mailbox

  1. From your telephone, dial 4555 (Chalon), or dial 2555 (Doheny).
  2. Listen to the Voicemail Tutorial and follow the prompts.
    Enter the temporary Passcode.
  3. Press 8 key (U for User options) to do the following:
    1. Press 7 or P to change the temporary Passcode. (Use something you can easily remember, but can't be guessed, not like 1234.)
      Press 9 or X to save and eXit to the main menu.
    2. Press 4 or G to record your Greeting
      Example: "Hello, you have reached <your name>. I'm unable to take your call right now, but please leave a message."
      Press 9 or X to save and eXit to the main menu.
    3. Press 6 or N to record your Name (user).
      Example: " Mary Smith".
      Press 9 or X to save and eXit to othe main menu.

B. To Check For Messages

  1. From your telephone, dial 4555 (Chalon), 2555 (Doheny).
    1. Enter your Passcode.
  2. From any telephone extension on campus, dial 4550 (Chalon), 2555 (Doheny):
    1. Enter your voice mailbox number, then press the star (*) key
    2. Enter your Passcode.
  3. From off campus, dial (310) 954-4550 (Chalon), (213) 477-2550 (Doheny).
    1. Enter your voice mailbox number , then press the star (*) Key.
    2. Enter your Passcode.

How to Set-up Your Voicemail in a Multi-User Office/Room

(Shared extension)

Each user will be assigned a PERSONAL VOICE MAILBOX NUMBER (not the extension number)obtained through the Coordinator. PLEASE REMEMBER THIS NUMBER! You will use this to set up your personal voice mailbox and to retrieve your messages.

A. To Set Up Your Personal Voice Mailbox (Each user must have a Personal Voice Mailbox Number):

  1. Dial 4550 (Chalon) or 2550 (Doheny),
  2. Enter your Personal Voice Mailbox Number, then press the star (*) key.
  3. Enter the temporary Passcode.
  4. Press 8 key or U (for User options) on the keypad to do the following:
    1. Press 7 or P to change the temporary Passcode.
      (Use something you can easily remember, but can’t easily be guessed, not like 1234.)
      Press 9 or X to save and eXit to the main menu.
    2. Press 4 or G to record your Greeting.
      Example: "Hello, you have reached <your name>. I'm unable to take your call right now, but please leave a message."
      Press 9 or X to save and eXit to the main menu.
    3. Press 6 or N to record your Name
      Example: "Mary Smith".
      Press 9 or X to save and eXit to the main menu.

B. To Check For Messages

  1. From any telephone extension on-campus, dial 4550 (Chalon), 2550 (Doheny):
    1. Enter your Personal Voice Mailbox Number, then press the star (*) key
    2. Enter your Passcode.
  2. From off-campus, dial (310) 954-4550 (Chalon), (213) 477-2550 (Doheny).
    1. Enter your Personal Voice Mailbox Number , then press the star (*) Key.
    2. Enter your Passcode.
