Library Assistant; Part-Time; 18 Hours Per Week - Library

Location: Doheny Camput (Downtown LA)

Will provide aid and support to the librarians and library patrons by keeping the library open, safe and fully functional during the scheduled open library hours. Hours are mainly Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Manage the library when librarians are not on duty.           
  1. Provide clerical and other support. 
  1. Direct and supervise student employees. 
  1. Responsible for the safety of patrons, student employees, and others. 
  1. Responsible for securing the library and its assets, especially at closing. 

Qualifications and Requirements:  

Read, write, and speak on a college level. Some working knowledge of a college library gained either through employment or use of one as a patron.

Ability to communicate well so that patrons and student employees can easily follow directions and get the information they need. The ability to resolve patron or student employee problems and disputes using tact. Basic computer skills. Ability to file alphabetically and numerically (with decimals).

Experience:                      Office or library experience preferred.

Education:                        Some college preferred.
