Location: Doheny Campus (Downtown LA)
Will conduct a variety of recruiting activities both on and off campus in an effort to attract working adults to the Weekend College to ensure maximum enrollment each semester. Contact prospective students via phone and email and meet with them in person to assist them in applying to the Weekend College.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Recruit prospective students by promoting the program at, corporate, educational and transfer fairs. Compile
written reports on success of fairs attended.
2. Respond to telephone, written and internet inquiries. Maintain active correspondence with prospective
students until the student is no longer interested in applying.
3. Interview and assess prospective students’ abilities, motivation and likelihood of success in the program.
Prepare unofficial transcript evaluations and provide assistance in the registration process.
4. Knowledge of Business office, and Student Finance procedures in order to answer entry level questions.
5. Correspond with prospective students on a continuing basis, as necessary, and ensure the proper status of
all application related documents.
6. Assist Dean and Outreach Coordinator with planning and outreach activities, related to the Weekend College.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Strong working knowledge of adult recruitment techniques. Knowledge of the adult student market and of
current trends in adult education. Ability to work independently and possess strong networking skills. General knowledge of articulation agreements, transfer credit procedures and financial aid.
Effectively organize, prioritize and handle multiple tasks to meet established deadlines. Accurately and quickly
identify and respond to market opportunities. Exercise sound judgment and decision making. Communicate and
interact effectively with prospective students, in both group and one-on-one situations. Demonstrate special understanding of, and sensitivity to, the needs of non-traditional adult college students. Strong follow-through
and accurate record keeping ability. Ability to work collaboratively within a team as well as independently.
Willingness and ability to work on weekends and adapt to a flexible schedule.
Strong analytical, organization and prioritization, project management, oral/written communication, and interviewing skills.
Previous experience in higher educational institution. Public speaking experience in a customer service-oriented environment. Academic counseling experience. Some sales experience. Experience working with adult students in a multicultural and academic setting desired. Possession of valid California driver’s license is necessary.
