Location: Chalon Campus (West Los Angeles)
Will provide transfer students applying to the Mount with information about the College as well as support in the application process. Direct the recruitment activities within a given geographical area for prospective students and evaluate applicants for admission to MSMC.
Contact and meet prospective MSMC students by visiting approximately 35 community colleges and attending approximately 30 college fairs throughout California and various other western states to generate applications for admission.
Inform and update college counselors at community colleges about MSMC so they can inform their students about the College and generate applications for admission.
Plan, organize and implement various programs for prospective students, college counselors and independent educational consultants throughout the year designed to generate interest in MSMC.
Interact in a professional manner with a variety of professionals outside of the College who have an impact/influence on prospective students.
Work closely with prospective students and applicants throughout the admissions process via telephone and email contacts, letters and personal meetings (approximately one day a week, eight months each year).
Organize a schedule of 60 community college visits (including travel arrangements and confirmation of visits). Organize a schedule of approximately 30 college fairs.
Analyze and evaluate documents submitted with applications for admission (i.e. school transcripts, SAT or ACT scores, references, essays and resumes) for approximately 200 prospective students.
Participate in 15 Admissions Office events throughout the year.
Maintain a visible relationship on both MSMC campuses and conduct approximately 40 interviews.
Working knowledge of the structure of college admissions and of public and private high school counseling; analysis of transcripts and standardized admission tests; and the role of an Associate of Arts degree versus a Bachelor’s degree. Understanding of financial aid policies and procedures helpful.
Willing and able to travel extensively. Effectively manage multiple projects and follow through to completion. Comfortably speak to groups and individuals from many different backgrounds and quickly build rapport. Work well alone and in a team. High energy level. Patience and flexibility. Creative problem solver. Analytical and able to make sound judgments/decisions. Must enjoy having a lot of contact with people. Good sense of direction and/or ability to read maps is very helpful.
Excellent organization and prioritization, customer service, oral/written communication, interpersonal, public relations and presentation skills.
One to two years’ experience working in a high school or an institution of higher learning (e.g. in counseling, admissions or as a teacher/faculty member), public relations, recruiting, sales or other related field.
Bachelor of Arts degree, preferably from a small liberal arts institution. Must possess a valid California Class “C” driver’s license. Participation in national and/or regional conferences helpful
