Director of Graduate Admission - Graduate Admission

Location: Doheny Campus (Downtown LA)

Work with Graduate Dean and Graduate Program Directors to establish and maintain vibrant graduate programs and oversee activities of Graduate Admission Office, including graduate marketing, recruitment, and enrollment processes. In support of the College’s new Strategic Plan which targets significant enrollment growth of its graduate programs, the Director of Graduate Admissions will provide key leadership in the development of effective and productive strategies for graduate recruitment in all current and future programs.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Establish and monitor a long-term enrollment plan that accompanies the College’s five-year strategic plan to increase enrollments for academic programs and graduate division as a whole. Develop feeder streams to graduate programs (i.e. higher education, corporate, non-profit, field-specific, etc.). Create and implement successful strategies for the enrollment of high quality new graduate students each semester.
  2. Supervise five staff members (direct and indirect supervision) – includes recruitment and hiring, training and encouraging professional development, counseling, performance reviews, directing work, and monitoring of daily activities.
  3. Research and analyze all computer-based statistical data used in decisions on marketing strategy and admission criteria. Develop and maintain graduate marketing and recruitment reports (funnel, web, cost, lead source, etc.). Generate weekly report on applicant levels.
  4. Serve as the primary graduate recruitment and enrollment voice for MSMC at numerous public functions each year.
  5. Participate in recruitment activities in key targeted markets and perform other relevant related tasks, as appropriate.
  6. Develop and/or revise policies and procedures as appropriate.
  7. Collaborate with the Assistant Vice President for Enrollment on continued development and management of coordinated enrollment procedural, reporting, and other institution-wide areas.
  8. Work with Graduate Dean to plan and monitor staffing, budget and other administrative duties.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Strong working knowledge of graduate enrollment management strategies and factors that influence program choice and retention of graduate and adult learners.

Effectively plan, execute, compare and understand data analysis on admissions markets and financial aid models. Understand and utilize data-base management for recruitment purposes.

Accurately assess the short- and long-term political, social, economic and demographic trends and technology advancements that will affect the marketability and enrollment potential at MSMC.

Working familiarity with, IBM-compatible computers, and word-processing, spreadsheet and database software applications.

Knowledge of markets, selection factors, and employment opportunities in current and potential fields of graduate study (education, business administration, humanities, film and television, creative writing, psychology, nursing, religious studies, physical therapy, film and television, and creative writing).

Excellent public relations, presentation, program and project management skills. Strong organization and prioritization, statistical, customer service, oral/written communication and interpersonal skills. Analytical and detail oriented; team player.

Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible marketing, recruitment, and/or admissions experience, preferably in graduate admissions in small liberal arts institutions. Demonstrated effectiveness managing staff and budgets. Must possess a valid California Class “C” driver’s license.

Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred.
