What is offered for Honors students?

Honors courses are offered each semester Honors contract can turn any course into an Honors course. Senior Honors Thesis is a special experience that culminates Honors work.

What is an Honors course?

A more innovative and independent experience of the subject than the regular course – not more work! Courses listed in the schedule of courses that have an H after the course number, e.g. ENG 5H, PSY 1H the H, Honors designation, appears on your transcript.

What is an Honors contract?

Get the chance to work with the instructors in classes to design an Honors experience.

Turn the assignments in the course into more complex and in-depth work, more focused on fascinating aspects of the subject that won’t be covered in the course a way to turn any course into an Honors course.

They are best if done in upper division courses, but any course can become HonorsHonors contract forms are available in the Advisement Office or office H327.

What is a Senior Honors Thesis?

1. An independent research project
2. Looking at 1 topic from the perspectives of 2 disciplines
3. Creative projects are encouraged and all projects reach to new insights and contributions in the fields of study
4. Great preparation for grad school!

Students work with 2 faculty readers from different disciplines for a full year a 3 unit Honors project usually done in the Senior year, but it may be started sooner.
