How do I connect to the internet through the a wireless network?

  1. Verify that your wireless network connection is active and attached to SSID 102
    **Data Encryption MUST be disabled!**
  2. Open a web browser
  3. Students should use their MSMC email address and register as a Guest.  Faculty and staff should authenticate with their MOUNT domain credentials.

Where is there wireless network access?

Wireless internet access is available in most public areas - classroom buildings and cafeterias on both campuses.

Wireless access is currently installed in all Residence Halls - both the Chalon and Doheny campuses.  Please report any coverage issues to the IT Service Desk by calling ext 2970. 

 

How do I connect to the internet from my dorm room?

Every dorm room has a network connection which enables your PC or Macintosh to access the College's Internet and Email services.  The phone jack CANNOT be used with a modem.  In order to use the network connection, your PC or Mac must be equipped with an Ethernet 10/100Base-T or 100Base-T network interface card and you must have a patch cable (Category 5 or 6, RJ45 M/M - 14ft+).  Most computers and laptops have integrated network interface cards, however, network interface cards and patch cables can be purchased at any computer or office supply store or at the student bookstore.

What web browser do I need to use to access my email with WebAccess? 

To use the WebAccess email client, make sure you have any one of the following web browsers:

  • Linux: Mozilla Firefox
  • Windows: Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or later; Mozilla Firefox
  • Macintosh: The latest version of Safari for your Mac OS; Mozilla Firefox
  • UNIX: Mozilla Firefox

Are there any restrictions on the email I send or receive?

Yes, restrictions are put in place to prevent abuse of the email system, as well as to reduce the amount of spam or junk mail and reduce the risk of spreading computer viruses.

How do I forward my email to a non-MSMC email account?

According to the official Email Communication Policy, while email forwarding is allowed, it is the responsibility of the student.  All official communications will be sent to your MSMC email address ONLY.

To create a rule for fowarding email:

  1. Login to email through WebAccess
  2. Click on Options in the upper-right corner
  3. Click on the Tab – Rules
  4. Choose the type of rule – Forward – and Click Create
  5. Supply the appropriate information:  “Name” of the rule and “To:” are required information.
    Hint:  For more details go to the Help and search for “How to create a Rule”
  6. Click Save

     How do I change my email password?

  1. Login to email through WebAccess
  2. Click on Options in the upper-right corner
  3. Click on the Tab – Password
  4. Enter your old and new passwords
  5. Click Save 

GroupWise Email Client for Windows training and “How to’s" 

Hint:  GroupWise Email Client for Windows is available on all lab computers

With your Groupwise Email Client for Windows open, go to the Help pull-down menu and click on Interactive Tutuorials:
