Mission and Purpose

The mission and purpose of the Sakura Society is the exposure of the Mount St. Mary’s College community to the Japanese culture and language through the use of popular mediums such as Film, Anime (Japanese Animation), Manga (Comics), video games of Japanese origin, art, and music. Through this, we aim to broaden the overall awareness and appeal of the Japanese culture and language. We also aim to foster unity amongst the members of the Mount St. Mary’s College Community, and to recognize the creative abilities of MSMC students. Activities include Japanese film and series screenings, joint discussion of Japanese works, convention trips, Japanese Culture Night, Japanese arts and crafts demo, field trips, etc.
