Telephone Policy
- Collect Calls - Acceptance of collect calls are not permitted.
- Non-proprietary Telephones - Only telephones provided by the Telecommunications Department may be used. Telephones that are bought, or brought from home, e.g., AT&T, GTE, Uniden, Sony, Panasonic, Mickey Mouse phones, cordless or otherwise, are not permitted. These types of equipment causes static in the lines and are not compatible with the telephone system the college uses.
- Telephone Equipment Breakage - Any inoperable telephone, caused by negligence, and/or wanton destruction of the equipment, will be charged to the student.
- Cordless Telephones – Anyone who reports to the Resident Assistants that there is a cordless telephone in the dormitories, the RA’s has the right to confiscate the equipment, which will be turned in to Residence Life. Cordless telephones cause telephone static within the floor, frequent line disconnections, and wiring problems. This type of telephone is not programmed in the college’s telephone system.
Impacts of Policy
- Reduce staff time in collections.
- Reduce repair cost.
- Recover costs to replace the equipment.
- Violators will meet with Residence Life.
- Improve accounting control.
- Ease in establishing new student account.
