Application Procedures

Application procedures must be completed before the first semester of enrollment. The applicant forwards the following, where applicable, to:

  1. Application and $50.00 application fee.
  2. One official transcripts of all previous college work, both undergraduate and graduate, sent directly from each institution to the Graduate Admissions Office.
  3. Two letters of recommendation from persons who have had ample opportunity to judge the applicant's academic ability, achievement and professional potential.
  4. Result of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is required for the Psychology program.
  5. An Admission interview with graduate faculty.
  6. Results of the California Basic Educational Skills Test (for applicants who are applying for a credential).
  7. Tuberculosis (TB) clearance (for applicants for the M.S. in Education who are also applying for a teaching credential).
  8. For Multiple Subject, Single Subject, and Special Education Credential applicants, evidence of satisfactory completion, or an attempt at satisfactory completion of the appropriate academic subject matter preparation requirement (CSET).

Applicants from countries other than the United States:

  1. Must submit results of the TOEFL test (for applicants whose first language is other than English). A minimum score of 550 is required.
  2. Must have their transcripts sent to a credential evaluation service for equivalency evaluation. (Special application forms are provided.)
  3. Must submit a notarized statement guaranteeing financial support during the period of study at Mount St. Mary's College.
