“Collaboration to Improve Student Persistence and Degree Completion“ (2004-2009)

The Title V Cooperative grant between Mount St. Mary's College and Pasadena City College strives to improve student persistence and degree completion, with specific focus on Hispanic and first-generation college attendees. Participating students will be given academic and career support through the development of learning communities and academic support teams.
Grant activities and programs include:
- peer mentors for students to act as social and academic guides and support
- tutors for students for academic training and support
- stipends for students that participate in internships or other appropriate career-related experiences
- faculty mentors for students who serve as career path advisors, mentors, and activity coordinators for students, and who collaborate in-class assignments or activities to address the cultural needs of students
- student support activities such as conferences, field trips, guest speakers, and career-related materials for participating students
- a smooth transfer experience for PCC students who desire to attend the Mount
The grant spans from 2004-2009 with department/major focus as follows:
- Year 1 (2004-2005) Nursing & Education
- Year 2 (2005-2006) Nursing & Education
- Year 3 (2006-2007) Art & Film
- Year 4 (2007-2008) Art, Film, & Business
- Year 5 (2008-2009) Business
