In addition to traditional collections of approximately 140,000 volumes, 1000 current periodicals subscriptions and 4000 non-print media titles, the Mount St. Marys College Libraries provide access to a number of CD/ROM and Web-based resources. Please consult our Library Webpages for up-to-date listings of resources offered.
Inter-Library Loan/Document Delivery requests for materials not available in our libraries are handled by Ruzica Popovitch-Krekic, Susan Shapiro, Mary Kranz, Marjorie Acevedo and Claudia Reed. There is a $1 fee per item requested. Inter-Library Loan requests are mostly available within 2 weeks. Document Delivery articles are available within 1 week.
Print reserve requests on the Chalon Campus should be submitted to Alice Lee. Processing time is 48 hours.
Print reserve requests on the Doheny Campus should be submitted to Lodean Beatty. Processing time is 48 hours.
Requests for library instruction should be made to Claudia Reed, Ruzica Popovitch-Krekic, Susan Shapiro, Mary Kranz or Marjorie Acevedo. Sufficient lead time of at least one week will allow for the creation of course specific handouts and research examples. Reference/Instruction Librarians on both campuses would appreciate your informing them of upcoming assignments that might necessitate sharing of a limited number of reference resources.
Materials that will be needed by multiple students can then be managed so as to be kept available to all students needing them. Borrowing arrangements with SCELC Libraries (except USC) can be made by application to the Library Director. For a list of SCELC Libraries, see: SCELC Libraries.
The Libraries hold a drawing for a $25 amazon.com gift certificate each Fall and Spring Semester. Faculty submitting syllabi and assignments to the Library receive one entry for each submission. Email (creed@msmc.la.edu) or send a hard copy to the Library at the beginning of the semester.
Drawings are held in late October and early March. Having your instructions to your students available to our Reference Librarians makes us better able to guide them in their research.
Libraries' computers are intended for Reference and Research use. Computers for word-processing, e-mail, and other uses are available in the Coe Library's Instructional Media and Technology Center and OIT administered Computer Labs.
Media materials are housed in the Instructional Media & Technology Center located on the 2nd floor of the Coe Library. This is a non-Library facility under the direction of OIT.
