Sept. 5, 2012 -- MSMC is teaming with nonprofit and civic groups across the country for the first-ever nonpartisan National Voter Registration Day on Sept. 25. The day represents a massive effort to register voters in all 50 states before Election Day this November.
The day's theme is "Register in September. Make it count in November," with the goal for the College and other partner organizations to play a key role in communities by driving attention and action around voter registration. The MSMC effort is being led by its Women's Leadership Program, which is planning voter registration kick-off events on both the Chalon and Doheny campuses that day, and registration events through the election.
The drive is an extension of the College's commitment to encouraging more youth participation in elections. In July, MSMC was selected as one of 25 institutions to lead the Civic Learning and Democratic Engagement Network for NASPA — Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education. The leadership role puts MSMC at the forefront of an emerging national movement to make democratic engagement a part of every student’s college education.
