Frequently Asked Questions: Chalon 2012

Do I have to attend the Orientation program?

Yes! Orientation is a mandatory event for all incoming students at the Mount. The purpose of this event is to introduce new students to college life. Students will also receive academic advising and select their courses for Fall semester.

Do parents/family attend Orientation?

Yes. Parent Orientation will be held on Saturday, June 30th for Chalon, and Saturday, July 21st for Doheny. We can accommodate up to 2 family members per student.

What time do I check-in for the Orientation Program?

Check-In begins at 8:00 AM on Saturday, June 30th.

What should I bring?

We will provide blankets, pillows, and towels. Students should bring their own toiletries, shower shoes (generally flip-flops), clothes and any other personal items. In addition, make sure to pack warm clothes for evening events. Note: Please leave your valuables (jewelry, electronics, etc.) at home!

Is there a dress code? What should I wear?

No, there is no specific dress code. We anticipate warm weather during the day, but it can get a bit chilly at night. You are expected to dress appropriately for the college setting.

Can I have guests during Orientation?

No, guests are not permitted during Orientation. During the year, there are specific guest visiting hours for residents.

If I am flying to Los Angeles for Orientation can someone pick me up at the airport?

Yes. If you will need transportation to and from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), please call the Orientation Team with your arrival/departure times and terminal information for pick-up and drop off. When booking flights home, please account for a minimum of two hours between arrival at LAX and flight time due to security procedures and traffic.

What should I do if I need special accommodations?

If you have any medical, physical, dietary, or other special needs, please contact us so that we can make accommodations.

Can I turn in my health clearance forms at Orientation?

Yes! Health clearance forms must be submitted to Health Services by August 1. Resident students will not be issued room keys in the Fall until all health requirements have been fulfilled. Feel free to stop by the Health Services office and drop off these forms during Orientation.

Will I have access to a telephone at Orientation?

Free local calls to the following area codes: 213, 310, 323, 562, 626, 661, 714, 805, 818, 909, 949, and 951. Calling cards are necessary for calls outside of these areas and are available at the Bookstore.

What time is check-out?

Check-Out is at 5:00PM on Sunday, July 1st.
