Doheny 2012 Parent Orientation FAQ

Doheny Parent Orientation is scheduled for July 16, 2011.  Information can be found in the Orientation invitation that your  student received in the mail.

Do I need to RSVP?

Yes, your student will RSVP for you.

How many family members can come to Parent Orientation?

We know that this is an important time for everyone in the family however, due to limited space, we can only accommodate two family members per student.

Do I need to stay for the entire event?

Parent Orientation is designed specifically for parents of new Mount students. You will receive important information on financing college, what to expect the first year, safety and security on campus and the numerous resources available to Mount students. We recommend that you stay for the entire event.

What time do I need to arrive for Parent Orientation?

Parent and student check in is between 8 a.m. - 9 a.m. We encourage you to check in early so that you can attend the Parent's Welcome and the various workshops for parents.

Will I get to say good-bye to my daughter or son?

Yes, family members will join their student for lunch after the last parent workshop. That will be the best time to say your good-byes.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

No, everything you need for the day will be provided.

Do I need to attend the Mass?

Mass is a wonderful way to welcome students and parents to the Mount Community. We ask that parents and new students attend together.

What if I am not Catholic?

Mount St. Marys welcomes people of all faith to attend Mass. You do not need to be Catholic.

Where do I park?

You will be directed where to park when you arrive on campus.

Will all the information be delivered in English? What if I am more comfortable speaking Spanish?

Although Mount St. Marys uses English for all official information, we understand that it is not everyones first language. For the purposes of Doheny Parent Orientation, workshop information will be available in Spanish. We ask that if you speak both English and Spanish, that you attend the English workshops.
