VIPs await on their guests to arrive at the Mount. |
The third Live at the Mount for the 2010-2011 academic year was hosted at Mount St. Mary’s on November 3, 2010. Live at the Mount is the opportunity were high school seniors from all over Los Angeles visit both campuses to explore all the amazing things the Mount offers. Many current Mount students who had the opportunity to go on this field trip during their senior year can remember the first time they visited the campuses for themselves.
Now many current students take time from their busy schedules to join Volunteers in Partnership (VIP). VIPs give tours to guests making their visit to the Mount a memorable one by answering any questions that prospective students may have academic wise or just transitioning to college. Live at Mount is held several times throughout the year for recruitment purposes. While visiting both campuses information about applying for colleges and much more is given to prospective students.
VIPs can play an important role in a prospective student’s decision on whether attending the Mount, and this can be done by making their first experience here forever memorable. For some, VIPs are a prospective student's first time encounter with a college student. VIPs are leaders in the sense that they are a representative for the Mount's student body.
“Even though people think it's just a tour guide position, it's more than that… If we make their experience here a bad one, then the entire college is looked bad upon as well. We are responsible for carrying on the Mount's reputation, and we are extremely positive figures.”
