The Mount is starting of the spring semester by having their formal sorority recruitment. Many often have negative views associated with sororities due to stereotypes placed on them, most commonly not true. But here at the Mount the sororities’ priorities are making friendships, becoming involved in campus, promoting academics, becoming a leader, as well as participating in social events.

Certain requirements are placed in order to participate they include being a current full time undergraduate student and having an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher. From Tuesday January 18 thru January 28 the recruitment process will begin. During this time several events will take place. This is the opportunity where ladies who are interested in joining a sorority will have the chance to interact with the current members. There are three social sororities on campus that will take part in this two week recruitment; they are the Kappa Delta Chi, Theta Alpha Sigma, and the Sigma Theta Psi.

Those students who signed up to participate in recruitment will attend all mandatory workshops where they will meet current members and learn about the three sororities on campus. Throughout the next week each sorority will host social events this is the perfect time for students to become familiar with the sororities. After the socials, starting January 31 the students who receive a bid will begin the new member education process.
