Take Back the Night!

Take back the night- an event for the empowerment of women as they stand up to end violence. On Tuesday February 15, 2011 Mount Saint Mary’s students took part in this event.  Primarily a women’s college, the female students at this event are proud to take part in helping women feel strong.

The students gathered at the Mercy Chapel at Doheny beginning at 5:30. The night included prayer, song as well as stories of women speaking out to make change. Students present were there to support those who have experienced violence in any shape or form. This event is to make people realize women are not objects and raise awareness to inspire them to take a stance for their safety.

At the Mount the students believe in making change for the better and this is another event that allowed them to demonstrate this. Students here are a “family” standing up for change and to make a difference.

“[Take Back the Night] is a place to take a stand, a place to break the silence. Here we can Take Back the Night!”
