Women's Leadership Information

The mission of the Mount St. Mary's College Women's Leadership Program is to prepare students for participation and leadership in our local and global communities. The Women's Leadership Program helps students develop leadership skills through co-curricular activities, as well as workshops, internships, and participation in national conferences.

Women’s Leadership is founded upon the relational model of leadership, defining leadership as the process of people working together to accomplish change and make a difference for the common good.

Women's Leadership Activities

Women’s Leadership offers several general workshops throughout the year. In addition, we offer tailored workshops to student organizations and academic classes. Women's Leadership also coordinates:

  • The Leadership Challenge, which is a day-long event focused on team-building skills
  • The Leadership Scholar Program
  • The Beacon Leadership Institute
  • The Leadership Transcript Program
  • Orientation Leader Training
  • The Leadership and Women’s Studies Minor
  • The Citizen Leader Certificate Program
  • Various other civic education programs and opportunities
  • Yearly trip to the Public Leadership Education Network (PLEN) Seminar in Washington, D.C.

Lastly, Women’s Leadership coordinates the intensive two-day new student orientation for both the Chalon and Doheny campuses each summer.
