Diana Navarrete

Diana Navarrete

In May 2010, Diana Navarrete will be graduating with a degree in business, emphasis in accounting. Year after year, she has persevered in both her studies and her involvement in several clubs on campus. As she continues her last year at the Mount, Diana will graduate with not only experience and growth, but also the support of the Mount community. Currently, she is the Sigma Beta Delta (Business Honor Society) Vice President, and was the President of the Accounting Association from Spring 08 to Spring 09. Diana has also been a member of ISAE for 4 years and still remains an active member.

“ISAE was always there whenever I needed help or advice; they were that support group that gave me the extra push. They even helped me find GMAT books to study from.” - Diana

Determined to fulfill her aspirations, after working two jobs and commuting for the last two years, she obtained an internship with the leading global organization, Ernst and Young, LLP. Ernst and Young is one of the top four public accounting firms and is also one of the top companies in “The Fortune 500” to work for. Along with many other tasks, Diana assisted with financial internal control and planning among several different engagements. Her outstanding display of professionalism rewarded her with the opportunity to travel to Colorado (all expenses paid) to work on a client. She also traveled to Orlando, Florida to end the internship by participating in the International Intern Leadership Conference, hosted by Ernst & Young.

Her determination and hard work paid off at the end of the summer when Ernst and Young asked for her to return after graduation. She plans to work at Ernst and Young as an auditor. In addition, she plans to get her master’s in accountancy while working at the firm, which will allow her to attend University of Notre Dame or University of Virginia. Soon after, she hopes to pursue her MBA at a prestigious university such as Stanford, Yale or Harvard.

Faulty of the Business department says that Diana is the first student in ten years to land a job at Ernst and Young, LLP. Diana feels that landing this prestigious opportunity at Ernst and Young is a “good way to open doors at MSMC. Now Ernst and Young knows what MSMC can really do.”

As she finishes her last year, Diana advices prospective and current students to, “Go for it! If you know you want something, GO FOR IT! Don’t wait for it to come to you because it might not come. Any goal is reachable if you put your mind to it.”
