Elizabeth Lemus a senior in the Nursing Major |
Elizabeth Lemus is approaching her last months at the Mount. As a senior majoring in nursing, Elizabeth is happy that she will soon be able to provide the services she always wanted. She states what lead her to pursue nursing is the opportunity to“provide compassionate care to others and make a difference in someone’s life.” When she finishes college she hopes to work at Children’s Hospital of Orange County to gain experience and continue her studies as a pediatric nurse practitioner.
Elizabeth enjoyed her last three years at the Mount and the college experience which allowed her to “grow as a person”. College gave her the self-confidence boost she needed to attain leadership skills, allowing her to be an active member of clubs and organizations.
Elizabeth has been a member of Nursing Fraternity Alpha Tau Delta since her sophomore year, and in junior year she was elected representative of public relations. She assisted students as a tutor for difficult courses such as Microbiology, Anatomy, and Physiology. In her freshman and sophomore year she was involved in the ISAE program (Institute for Student Academic Enrichment), which helps first generation college students achieve in their studies. She is currently a peer advisor for students in ISAE. Elizabeth holds many admiring qualities including a GPA of 3.75 and serves as a Resident Assistant for Carondelet Hall.
She feels that Mount St. Mary’s has helped her achieve many of her goals and her advice to students is “ask questions when in doubt because life is a learning process.” A quote that inspires Elizabeth is: “Dream as if you’ll live forever, live as you’ll die today.”-James Dean
