RELIGIOUS STUDIES

We believe the study of Religion is essential to the liberal arts because of the Catholic intellectual tradition of the College. We offer both an undergraduate major and minor designed to provide you with an academic foundation for graduate study in theology or for a career realated to Religious Studies. Your degree is divided into the following five categories:

Required Courses for Major in Religious Studies

 

Lower Division
RST_015: Introduction to Christian Scriptures (3)
RST_021: Introduction to Catholicism (3)
RST_041: Introduction to Christian Ethics (3)

Upper Division
1. Scripture (3)
RST_155: Upper Division Scripture Study (3)

2. Christian Thought (6)
RST_131: Jesus (3) required and
3 units in another upper division category II course

3. Christian Ethics (3)
Upper division category III course

4. Upper Division Elective (3)
Upper division course in any RST category

5. Senior Thesis/Project (3)
RST_199: Senior  Thesis/Project

6. General Elective (3)
3 units in any area

Total Units Required for Major: 30
(Including general education requirements and electives totaling 124 semester units including Modern Language Requirement. Majors must maintain a C or better in each of the courses taken in fulfillment of these requirments.)

Weekend College Major in Religious Studies

 
This program is designed for men and women that are both part-time or full-time students of all ages, that want to further their knowledge and understanding of the Roman Catholic tradition as well as strengthening their understanding of other faiths, cultures, and traditions.
