1. You must apply for benefits at http://vabenefits.vba.va.gov/vonapp/main.asp
The VA states the application review process will take up to and possibly exceed 6 weeks.
2. If this is you first time using you GI benefits please fill out the on-line application [form 22-1990].
If you have not used your GI benefits in the past please fill out the on-line application [form 22-1995].

3. Print a copy of the on-line application for benefits for the Registrar’s office files.
4. Send a copy of your DD-214 military/service record and Certificate of Eligibility.
The VA will not notify the school when they receive your paperwork. The VA will mail the student the Certificate of Eligibility directly when they have completed processing the application for benefits.
Once the Registrar’s office have received a copy of the on-line application for benefits, DD-214 and Certificate of Eligibility the Veteran Liaison will begin the verification process once you are registered into your courses.
Each semester verification of your registered courses will continue until you are graduated or withdraw from Mount St. Mary’s College.
