The Bachelor of Science in Social Work prepares students for entry-level positions in social work as well as for graduate studies in social work. Although the major is new to the Weekend College, the College’s Department of Sociology has prepared students for careers in social work since its earliest days. Professions in social work directly serve the needs of traditionally underrepresented groups in society. Coursework in the major challenges students to understand what it means to advocate for some of the nation’s neediest residents. The major educates students for a life of service in the community.
